We are ready
Last week we had our final visit with our case worker and all went well...we are officially a resource family (aka foster family). Now we are just have to w.a.i.t. For the last year we have been checking things off the list working toward getting approved. Now that we are approved there is nothing to check off except "get a kido". I am a planner, I have a billion list going for a million things and new lists starting every day. I want to make sure I have every thing covered and planned and ready for whatever may be. But with fostering that is not possible. I can't plan for the when and who, baby or toddler? boy or a girl? Will they come today or in 6 months? Do we plan to take a 5th kido (or 6th) on vacation with us this summer? Just some of the questions I can not answer or plan for. No list to write, nothing to check off, nothing to do but wait. This goes against everything in me, but that is probably why God gave us this adventure. Learning to not rely on my lists and planning and timing is a lesson I should know by now but apparently I haven't been a very good student. So as I stress over the list I can't make and the "planning for fostering" app that doesn't exist (trust me I looked) I try to remember that there is a lesson I should be learning and if I could just hurry up and learn it maybe I could get back to my lists...maybe I should make a list for that.
